Meet the Founders

Two Dental Professionals.
One Shared Vision.

With over 50 years of combined experience in the dental industry, we created SmileStock to solve a problem we've seen firsthand: authentic imagery that reflects real dentistry and real people.

What inspired you to start SmileStock, and how did the idea first come to life?

SmileStock began with one shared realization: dental imagery simply wasn't keeping up with the real world. After decades in the industry, we were both tired of seeing the same staged, unrealistic photos that didn't reflect the actual people, diversity, and daily experiences within dental practices.

From the business side, there was a constant need for authentic marketing assets that truly connected with patients. From the clinical side, there was frustration watching images misrepresent real techniques, real workflows, and real clinicians.

One day, after yet another conversation about "Why doesn't this exist?", the idea clicked. What if we combined our strengths—industry strategy and clinical expertise—to create the kind of imagery we always wished we had? That moment became SmileStock.

How do your individual strengths complement each other as co-founders?

Our strengths are different but perfectly aligned.

One of us brings years of experience in dental leadership, branding, sales, and understanding what resonates with practices and patients. The other brings a deep clinical background as a leader, hygienist, educator, and trainer—someone who knows exactly what correct technique looks like and how a real dental team interacts with each other and with patients.

One sees the marketing strategy; the other ensures clinical accuracy and practical application. Together, we create imagery that is both beautiful and clinically accurate—something the industry has been missing.

What's one thing about dental imagery that you wish more people understood?

Dental imagery isn't just decoration, it is communication. It tells customers and patients who you are before they ever meet you.

Authentic images help customers and patients feel represented, comfortable, and connected. When they see people who look like them—real ages, real ethnicities, real body types—they trust the practice more.

And clinically, accurate imagery matters. Technique, posture, instruments, PPE—patients may not notice every detail, but professionals do. So, we focus on capturing the small things that make a big difference.

Real clinicians. Real diversity. Real dentistry. That's the heart of SmileStock.

What's been your favorite moment or milestone since starting SmileStock?

One of our favorite moments was reviewing our first full image collection and feeling an immediate sense of this is exactly what the industry needs. Seeing images that were modern, diverse, and clinically correct—captured with warmth and humanity—felt like a huge milestone.

Another moment that stands out was hearing a dental team say, "These look like us." That simple sentence confirmed we were creating something meaningful, something that finally reflects the real people who make dentistry come alive every day.

Outside of SmileStock, what makes you both smile?

We smile at a lot of the same things: good coffee, great wine, kittens & dogs with way too much personality, and spontaneous adventures. We both love discovering new restaurants and planning trips!

But most of all, we smile when we see people doing what they love—whether that's a clinician mastering a new skill or a business owner proudly sharing their story. Those moments inspire us both personally and professionally.
